Tasting note
A lush, rich red from California, brimming with raspberries, brambles and black cherries and fragrant with vanilla, spice and toasty oak.
Viticulture
Organically farmed, Mediterranean climate. The 2016 vintage brought welcome winter and spring rains to Mendocino, which segued beautifully into a growing season with cooler than average daytime highs and cold nights, giving Zinfandel grapes ample time to develop complex layers of flavor on the vine.
Vinification
Aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak. The wine was made with minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the organic Zinfandel fruit to express its signature depth and richness. It was blended with a touch of Petite Sirah for a little extra perfume, color and complexity in the glass.
Food Match
Grilled meats, smoked aubergine and slow-cooked lamb.
