Tasting note
Generous, juicy Grenache from this maverick producer in McLaren Vale, the nose a fine blend of spice and earth, the mouth a joyous jumble of fresh blueberry, stewed rhubarb and a hint of raspberry.
Vinification
Grapes are gently crushed in small batches and placed in 5-tonne open fermenters. Each batch is kept separate until blending. Foot treading occurs during fermentation. After basket pressing, the wine is aged in a mix of old French and American oak barriques on lees. It undergoes no racking until final blending, with no fining or filtration.
Food Match
Lamb, barbecued or grilled meat.
