Tasting note
This wine is a ruby red colour of medium intensity. The nose has an attractive, perfumed character with red fruit, herbal and floral notes. This is a medium-bodied, intensely fruity wine with fresh acidity and textured tannins that contribute grip and tension to the mouth. Long and deep finish.
Viticulture
De Martino, pioneers of Chilean wine, led by revered winemaker Marcel Retamal, reshaped the scene in 2011. They embraced indigenous yeasts, earlier harvest, and minimal oak. Voted 'winery of the year,' they craft diverse wines from unique terroirs and varietals, including the homage Viejas Tinajas from old vines in Itata, reflecting ancestral methods.
Vinification
Grapes are put thorugh a traditional tool called "zaranda" made of wood and canes to separate stems from berries. They are then vinified with periodic punchdowns. Use of native yeasts, no added sulphites. Aged 12 months in used French oak.
