Tasting note
Orange-tinted aromatic Austrian white, bursting with apricot, peach and juicy Braeburn apple, with a nice lemony waft of citra hops.
Viticulture
Sourced from Machherndl's spectacular terraced vineyards in the Wachau. The approach is hands-off, with no irrigation or added fertiliser used. Certified Organic farming.
Vinification
The Pulp Fiction range is Erich Machherndl's outlet for his insatiable experimentation and curiosity. This one is a crazy blend of equal parts Frühroter Veltliner, Muscat and Weissburgunder. Unlike a normal white wine it is fermented on its skins in 300-litre oak casks to extract flavour, body and a slight orange colour. Unfiltered with no added sulphur.
Food Match
This is so fresh and floral that it is one of the few wines that truly pairs really well with Indian-style curries. It can also stand up to citrus salads. Delicious to drink on its own or during a picnic.
