Viticulture
The '23 Marlborough season had above-average bunches. Unsettled weather during flowering led to lighter bunches, but overall yields were average. Veraison faced unstable conditions, narrowly avoiding cyclone damage. The settled weather, reminiscent of early 2000s, led to fully ripe grapes with concentrated flavors and classic acidity, rewarding patience.
Vinification
Extended ripening let us harvest perfectly ripe Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit straight to our lower-Wairau winery, gently pressed, batch fermented at cool temperatures. Various yeast strains captured vibrant flavors and aromatics from our Marlborough vineyards. Exceptional 2023 fruit quality; proud to share these wines.
