Tasting note
Wild dark berry fruit and gentle baking spice with a twist of black pepper and liquorice on the nose. Velevty textured with bright berry fruit and floral flavours. Sustained depth of flavour and texture through the palate with a fine, refreshing and lingering finish.
Viticulture
Single vineyard site in the Gimblett Gravels growing district in Hawkes Bay, NZ. The vineyard was planted in 2002. The vines are VSP trained and sustainable viticulture is practised.
Vinification
Attention to detail defines our winemaking. Handpicked grapes gently destemmed for maximum whole berries. Small open-top vat fermentation, post-ferment maceration for balanced structure, basket pressed. Aged 19 months in 50% new French oak barrels, light egg white fining before bottling.
