Tasting note
Wild dark berry fruit and gentle baking spice with a twist of black pepper and liquorice on the nose. Velevty textured with bright berry fruit and floral flavours. Sustained depth of flavour and texture through the palate with a fine, refreshing and lingering finish.
Viticulture
The vineyard is situated on the warm free draining Gimblett Gravels in Hawkes Bay, NZ, and is managed using sustainable practices.
Vinification
The exceptional 2019 season led to a long, dry autumn, allowing red grape varieties to mature slowly, preserving their varietal character and achieving ripe tannins. Chatterer Syrah was fermented in small stainless steel vats, then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels before bottling in November 2020.
Food Match
Pair with five spice-rubbed duck breast with blueberries, roasted soya-rubbed salmon with tarragon or roasted beetroot and fennel with toasted cumin seeds and feta.
