Tasting note
A youthful and juicy 'Nouveau' style red wine drawing inspiration from the Rhone. This wine is completely unoaked, just how it's always been since the very first vintage. A mix of light and dark fresh ripe berried fruits, cured meats and lifted spice on the nose sets you up for mouthful of savoury and gamey flavour in the mouth.
Viticulture
A patchwork of vineyards located throughout the Barossa Valley, from vines up to 100 years, grown on a range of soil types. The younger blocks are planted utilising modern trellis systems, while the oldest Grenache and Mataro vineyards are dry grown bush vines.
Vinification
All components are fermented in open fermenters, where the presence of whole berries is encouraged. Pumped over twice daily, flavours colours and tannins are gently extracted from the grapes until pressing off skins after 7 days. Bottled early, without oak maturation, to showcase the bright fruit elements and lifted spice characters.
Food Match
Versatile and exuberant, the Joshua pairs well with charcuterie and carpaccio dishes whilst it also sits well with asian inspired spice dishes.
