Tasting note
Expressive Riesling, aromatic with lemon peel and flowers, zippy with grapefruit and surprisingly rich on the finish.
Viticulture
The Krone vineyard, adjacent to Tesch's Löhrer berg vines, differs significantly in soil and terrain. Its steep southeast slope features light, coarse soils with high quartz content, inducing vine stress due to water scarcity. With 35-year-old vines planted at 6000 per hectare, yielding 57hl/ha, hand-harvesting occurs in the last week of October.
Vinification
Grapes from a single vineyard are destemmed and left in contact with skins for 4-8 hours to balance acidity. After pressing with a pneumatic press, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with wild & cultured yeast at 12-15°C for 40 days. The wine rests on lees for 6-12 weeks with battonage every 1-3 weeks and is filtered before bottling.
Food Match
Ideal with chicken and fish dishes.
